1962 Deluxe project update

Re: 1962 Deluxe project update

I beat ya to the punch on this one about 3 weeks ago home boy!

besides...you don't even like non Blackface Fender amps...get off my Kool-Aid!

BUWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Yeah Gman... C already called dibs on that fokker!

Not like I'm letting it go anytime soon, but really... brown Deluxe...

mmmmmmmmmmmmm

:32:

What speaker did you put in there anyway?

Re: 1962 Deluxe project update

That's one sweet piece.

I've only ever played one brown amp, a mint Vibrosonic I found in a small shop on tour last summer. I'd love to try the other flavours. Even though I play tweed, I think brown and blonde fenders are probably the best fenders made for my tastes.

Thanks man. I love my tweeds but this thing smokes...everybody says Browns and Blonds are inbetween tweeds and blackfaces but they are much closer to tweeds at the end of the day...

Re: 1962 Deluxe project update

The panel itself is fine, I just hate the screws JD used, and the lack of trim washers but like everyone is telling me those are small things, and I'll order some soon anyway!

I assume Bruce has been in the amp and it is smokin!!!

It's had a recently cap job and one or 2 very minor tweaks made to it but Im tellin you guys...this is easily on of the best sounding amps I've ever played through period!

It is a great, great amp...always reminded me of a Marshall. And that old Vox speaker must sound killer too. Those are all I use in my tweed Deluxes and used in that Brownface. There's no better speaker for those '62 and older Deluxes.

Wish you could hear my three Deluxe Reverb's that Bruce and I modded, Christian...those are just as spectacular! (Maybe even more spectacular... :naughty:)

Actually though, that '62 Deluxe you have sounds almost rubbery to me when I sting a note...it's so-o-o-o touch sensitive. Really responds to the pick and always allowed me to squeez-z-z-e a note out and really shape it.

You've got a great one there...but I love my modded Deluxe Reverbs too.

And we wonder why non-guitarists think we're all nuts when we talk about tone.

I understood every word of it. :)

It is a keeper for sure!

If I ever end up getting my hand on a decent Deluxe reverb it's going to Bruce for the "Lew Mods"! I just always dug the tone of tweeds but felt like it could maybe be a little bit "better" for me...this 62 is everything I always wanted a Marshall to be and everything I always thought was "lacking" in a tweed Deluxe.

It really does have a very interesting quality to it when you crank it...I could see it being called rubbery! Very touch sensitive for sure...in a lot of ways this is the amp I always wanted I just didn't know what it was!!!
