1962 Gibson Les Paul

Jomo's Nimions
After talking a lot about it, and the PAF teaser, here's the rest of my favorite guitar ever. If we get another nice day soon, I'll take it outside for better lighting. My stellar iPhone camera skills make it look like it's in better condition than in reality, so hopefully I can capture more of the "character." I'll attach the vibrato bar next time, as well.

The full story is I have it on perma-loan from my dad. He bought it at a garage sale in 1974 or '75 for $190, which he proudly talked down from $200 :) Obviously that's quite a bit more than $190 in 2016, but still, a pretty nice investment. I started out playing on this guitar in 1992-93, and it's pretty amazing to have it back with his Super Reverb. I've always felt bad about selling the Fender Mustang that was the first guitar I owned, but this is a pretty good consolation prize.

Uh, I think it does have a crap vibrato. I mean, a vibrato.

Re: 1962 Gibson Les Paul

the sideways vibrato that they put on a lot of the guitars that year was ****, this is much better

Re: 1962 Gibson Les Paul

Thats a rare one.....that ebony block behind the t/p bit was not put on many guitars at all.

Re: 1962 Gibson Les Paul

It's no good for divebombing, but great for subtle stuff. Also, it doesn't affect tuning stability or any of the common floating bridge problems.

Yeah, I got that. Those early sideways vibratos were junk (pretty good for the day, but junk by today's standards).

That guitar is beautiful! Never let that leave the family, make it an heirloom.

Enjoy the hell out of it

Re: 1962 Gibson Les Paul

Old Growth Choice Honduran Mahogany and Old Growth pre-ban choice Brazillian Rosewood fretbaord with genuine Seth Lover Era PAF's( or some saying early patent number pickups-IDK, still great either way). It don't get much better than that.

Someone needs to report JB for posting pure pornography. That guitar is just too sexy. Congrats man.
