1962 Gibson Les Paul

Re: 1962 Gibson Les Paul

^^ This is pretty common, because they didn't make pups dedicated to specific positions on the guitar, they'd have just been pulling them off the rack and installing them.

Nice piece overall :). The short vibrola/ebony block examples are indeed more rare, and playable than the sideways contraption.

That's the MojoTone tailpiece for blocking the sideways vibrola. Supposed to be quite good.

Re: 1962 Gibson Les Paul

the only thing a little unusual is that by '62 most pups were right around 7.5k and had short a5 magnets. granted there is nothing set in stone at gibson but having an 8k pup is much more rare by that year. very cool pups

Re: 1962 Gibson Les Paul

more likely it was an older paf that was laying around but ya never know

Re: 1962 Gibson Les Paul

That's right, Pats tend to have consistently a lower DCR, whereas PAFs were more variable.

Anyway, I'm a sucker for SGs and this one is a beaut!
