1986 Guild Nightbird Project

Got this feathered friend at a local pawn shop , the wiring was buggered up, gone was the phase switching, and split
P/U capability. Replaced SD 59 in neck as it was only 2wire,and SD Invader in bridge position ,as it was way too
hot for the birds hollowbody. Replaced neck with 4 wire
SD JAZZ, and being primarily a Strat player i selected the 4 wire SD STAGMAG for the bridge. Now I can select each Humbucker with the 3 position switch, change phasing with the mini toggle, and split both humbuckers to create a single coil sound with the push-pull switch/tone pot, just
as George Gruhn intended.
This odd combination of P/U's has worked out well .

Great axe. have a bluesbird wth a pair of Burstbuckers. Guild makes really solid guitars. Good luck with it.

Re: 1986 Guild Nightbird Project

Did you get a great deal on it at the pawn shop? Looks to be in great condition!

Re: 1986 Guild Nightbird Project

That's a beautiful amber flame top. Nice guitar.

Re: 1986 Guild Nightbird Project

Thanks for the kind words. This bird is a keeper. You can still find good deals on Guilds.

Re: 1986 Guild Nightbird Project

I just discovered two things...

First I dicovered Guild makes electrics (only knew acoustics from the shop)

Second, I discovered I seem to like them !

Re: 1986 Guild Nightbird Project

Guild also made the sexiest superstrat as well, called the Liberator Elite.

Looks weird (what's this electronic thing there ?) but nice. Gorgeous finish and gold hardware for the win. I just don't like the headstock, I prefer ESP/Jackson/Ibby pointy's.
