2 humbuckers, 3-way toggle switch, 2 push/pull pots Dual sound + Phase or Coil split

Is it possible to combine Dual sound mod (series/parallel) on one push/pull switch (e.g. volume) with Single-Coil switching (also known as coil Tapping or coil splitting) or with Phase switch mod on the other push/pull switch (e.g. tone)? Which mod of these other two (Coil splitting and Phase Switch) you find more usable? Can someone please provide wiring scheme for both versions (Dual sound / Phase switch and Dual sound / Coil splitting)? Also, I would like to incorporate Treble bleed mode on the volume pot if that won't interfere with this kind of setup. Thank you!

Guitar is Ibanez JS100
Configuration: 2 humbuckers, 3-way toggle switch, 1 volume and 1 tone (both push/pull)
Both humbuckers have 4 conductor wiring
Neck: DiMarzio DP156 Humbucker From Hell
Bridge: DiMarzio DP224 AT1 Andy Timmons Humbucker Pickup (F-Spacing)
Both potentiometers are CTS A500K DPDT PUSH-PULL SHORT SPLIT SHAFT BY MOJOTONE
3-way toggle switch is standard stock switch

Welcome to the forum!

Actually, the series/parallel and splittingis easily done with Triple Shot rings, which is the most elegant solution. With push pull pots, you can do splitting for one switch (it can split both pickups with one switch) leaving the other for either series/parallel for one pickup OR phase for one pickup.

Mincer first of all thank you for your quick answer. if I understood correctly first option is to do serial/parallel (both push/pull pots in function) and second is to do standard serial wiring (beside parallel which is maybe unusable with coil split on) with coil split (e.g. volume push/pull) and faze reversal option (e.g. tone push/pull).
Here's resume:

1st option:
Plus: canceling hum in both cases
Minus: 2 characteristics of sound (if we ignore the option of combining parallel/serial)

2nd option:
Plus: 3 characteristics of sound
Minus: hum that comes with coil splitting

If humbucker with its coils in parallel sounds similar to splitted coil in series, but still humcancelling, maybe that is a better option to do since I'm not a fan of hum. Is it loss of volume in parallel mod similar to coil split volume loss? Which one is more noticeable?

Okay, let's assume I've decided for the first serial/parallel option, my next question is which extra switch do I need to add at guitar body to add phase mod?

Parallel is certainly hum cancelling. As far as which sounds bette, parallel, or split...it seems to me it is really dependent on the pickup. I like many pickups split, but I only like higher output pickups in parallel. Some people think differently, though. Loss of volume is a little (just a little) more in parallel to me. The huge advantage of parallel is the hum cancelling...although in some cases I don't like the tone as much as split, even though split adds a little bit of hum. The type of switch used for a push/pull pot is enough to change phase of one pickup in relation to another.

Hi JesterCro

I have modded several 2 HB guitars with only 2 push pulls .

There are quite a few wiring variations possible. The most requested are :

1. Parallel/series for Bridge pup plus Artie's coil swap mod. All hum cancelling

2.coil cut to inner coils for both HBs plus a combined OOPs/series PP. Despite not all being lhum cancelling this is very popular, especially on PRS SE guitars where the3 conductor pup wiring precludes the parallel option. If you have 4 conductor pups you can of course make this hum cancelling by cutting to the bridge slug and neck screw but many like the "quack" of the inner coils together. The individual cut pups will of course not be.
.

If you are thinking about adding an additional switch, I would go for a mini on-on-on DPDT to give series/parallel/split on either the bridge or neck and combine it with a PP giving Artie's coil swap and a combined OOPs/series PP. This gives a huge amount of pick up variations and combinations.

My absolute first choice would be to use Triple Shot mounting rings on both pups. That accomplishes series, parallel, split to screw coil, and split to slug coil for each pup. Then it is pretty simple to wire phase to one p/p pot.

Is there any chance to share those two wiring diagrams with me?
