well i have had 3 project guitars going and i got the final parts in yesterday to finish 2 of them and here they are with some info on them...
first is my esquire clone...this was a low buck build that turned out to be a KILLER guitar...it's started off as a knockoff fender tele (even has the correct headstock shape) but it has a thinner body (alder) which the edges are more rounded on (real nice to play and very light) the other odd thing is that it has a 14 degree fretboard radius and med jumbo frets which feels great and real fast...the neck is a tiny bit thinner than a fender and feels great since it has a real thin satin finish making it feel like raw wood. anyway i decided to make it my first esquire and it got a new 3 ply parchment pickguard from warmoth, a fender control plate, CTS pots, orange drop cap, new 3 way switch, a hotrails along with some gibson speed knobs and planet waves locking and cutting tuners (which are great!). then Artie made up a killer wiring setup for me (thanks a ton) that lets it be pos.1 full hum with tone, pos.2 full hum no tone, pos.3 split hum with tone...so it has a few ranges of sound which is nice. all it needs now is a new graphite nut and a custom headstock logo that i'm working on and it will be 100% done.
can't go wrong with some metal flake gold paint on an esquire!!!
the next project is an all MIA fender build...it started life as an off ebay mint pewter MIA fender body and a 2004 brand new MIA maple neck off ebay then came the new fender reissue bridge with graphtech saddles and a one hum matte black guard from warmoth (those guys rock!!) and matte black 6 hole backplate, then i got the odd idea of doing a full chrome cover hum so i ordered a tremspaced custom custom from blackrose (thanks kevin!!) and a chrome cover from allparts and got one sweet looking duncan IMO...anyway enough babble...here are the pics...
oh and those who will grumble about one pickup guitars...i have 11 guitars these two are ment to be straight foward punk and metal guitars, nothing more...the others do more tricks hahaha
well there you have it 2 of 3 projects done and parts in the mail for #3...so, what do you think?
