2 single coils inside a modded triple shot ring?

I'm going to build a guitar with a telecaster pickup AND strat pickup in the neck position.

I've been thinking about modding a triple shot ring to fit both pickups inside it so I could use the Triple Shot's switch to choose between tele and strat pickups.

My question is....

Is everything I described so far technically impossible? and would I be able to use the remaining positions on the TS switch for out of phase options?

I'm pretty good with everything else but I'm lost when it comes to pickups. Please help me!

Thanks in advance

I'm fairly confident you can do just about anything with the triple shots that you want as long as you're crafty with plastics and glue. The entire circuit is located in a very small place and I'm sure you could clip it out and mod it out however you want from there.

Here's a pic of the electronics:

I'm not entirely sure of the wiring since I've never actually wired real single-coil pickups (only single-coil sized humbuckers) but you should be able to do it by wiring one white wire to the W hole and the other white wire to the red... From there, I think you would wire both of the black wires into the B hole but, again, I'm not entirely sure.

the single coils probably wont physically fit in the ring

if you can get them to fit with out killing it then you should be able to get all the options of the triple shot ie... series/parallel/split to either coil

there is no remaining positions on the ring for out of phase options

Just out of curiosity, could you make out of phase options by adding another switch to the right side of the pickup? I don't know much about wiring mods like that, but I have been curious about that for some time now. :D

you could i guess but this is meant for a humbucker and bucker out of phase with itself isnt a very usable tone. most people would think its broken and try and fix it. if they put a switch to change the phase of the whole pup it would be more useful but even with two pups out of phase unless you have independant volume controls i dont find it a very useful tone. i have one of my main guitars setup with a phase switch on the bridge pup and independant volume and tones and i barely ever use it

I've never really been a fan of that sound, either... But I was just curious if it was possible. :D

As long as we're on the topic, any ideas as to how I could mod a triple shot ring to work with a single-coil sized humbucker without looking completely ridiculous?

Cheers for all the replies guys.

What I was thinking of doing was forgetting the series and parrallel options on the switch and using those empty switch positions to get each single coil out of phase.

Any more ideas on whether that would be possible?

I thought of doing this too. it can be done with the 'smaller' singlecoils, like the hotrail. they have the size of 1 bobbin, and 2 simply fit, no biggy. you have to attach those 2 with, lets say, a small piece of metal, with in the middle a nut. that will function just as with any other humbucker.
