Whoops! There goes the 1 year warranty
Just got a Washburn PXM18EB fantastic guitar but the EMG 808 pickups suck, no tone bit like digital distortion thin and trebly ugghh!
Yes I did adjust the pickup heights and it made a small difference...
In the end decided to replace the entire electronics put switchcraft 3 way switch, 2x push/pull pots and the SD Pegasus/Sentient pickups.
Had a few issues mostly with a wiring diagram that didn't cover the switchcraft switch output lugs and the fact the pickup cavities are deeper than the pickups!
Some humbucker springs and a little frisky ingenuity later and there all in, replaced the collet knobs with proper knobs as my controls tend to be on settings other than 0 or 10 its nice to know where you are.
I think I am the first person in the world to mod one of these guitars (there is probably only me in the UK with one!) certainly distracts me from the evil lure of the Schecter C-8FR and C-9
One issue that did remain was lack tonal clarity on the 7th and 8 string, temporary cure has been to raise the action of those two strings now under distortion there is some clarity with the EMG's it was same issue that could point to a setup issue...

The guitar now finally has great tone and a fantastic clean sound especially coil tapped

If your wondering why the neck pickup is passive mount that is because buying 8 string pickups in the UK is almost impossible
