Rarely do I find a guitar with which I am as impressed as I am with this Ibby. Great feature set, high quality build, 5 piece neck/neck thru, DiMarzios, string through body, jumbo frets and nicely finished, Gibraltar Custom Bridge...looks Badass and plays/sounds great too.

The Ibanez VBT700 or V-Blade guitar is a flying V guitar model, introduced in 2007 as part of the Ibanez X series. Originally, the design came from a custom v-shaped guitar that was made for Dragonforce guitarist Sam Totman. Despite some rumors this was not an official signature series but rather a "spin-off" of the original custom design. Totman did get his own signature series in 2008 based on the Iceman, the STM. The VBT700 was the only V-Blade model that was mass produced to the public and was only available in 2007. It has since been discontinued.

Features include a neck through body construction, rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth inlays, a hard-tail bridge with string-through body, and two DiMarzio humbucking pickups.

Re: 2007 Ibanez VBT700

Man, why does everything have a Wizard neck :P...

Apart from that, looks cool; Ibanez have a good rep for Vs.

I wish they'd bring this one back, but probably never will.

Re: 2007 Ibanez VBT700

I thought long and hard about getting one of these after i had to sell my 82 rocket roll II as it was the closest thing i could find but the "tangs" on the tips of the fins always put me off. I prefer more classic shaped Vs. However i did finally decide to get one and they had all but vanished off the face of the earth.

We need some clips!

Re: 2007 Ibanez VBT700

I love my VBT700. Seriously cool guitar in so many ways. They do come up on ebay every so often, but prices tend to be high probably due to the limited production.

I am not quite metal enough to pull it off, but I love it just the same...

That is nice one...is that a Rocket or Pro-line? *** I see the "Pro Line" on the HS now.

Re: 2007 Ibanez VBT700

Thanks! I did pick it up. Went back to the store and played it 3 days in a row through various amps (Marshall TSL100 and a Fender Twin mostly) and finally said the Hell with looking and got the guitar and a new SKB Case.

Ha! I am in the same boat as far as metal goes but who cares. ;) Yours looks killer in White btw.

Only place I have seen them are on eBay and one on Guitar Center Used but for $450-600 plus shipping. Mine was $299.99, which I thought was well justified.

Pfft, I don't play metal either but these guitars are too cool not to have :). Nice price too.

White one's nice, Dr. V.

Yeah, it's a Proline. Very rare (and on my gas list :(); I was reading somewhere that only about 140 were made in white, so I can't imagine more were in black and pink. 1986 was not a great year for Ibanez because of the $/Yen exchange rate, so fewer guitars were shipped, which also accounts for lower production numbers for some guitars.

The 1985 model was bolt on, front routed, and had Pro Rock'r whammy.

Ah man those are so much fun! Seriously great feeling necks and the build quality is top notch.

Congrats on one cool guitar and an even cooler deal. :D

Re: 2007 Ibanez VBT700

I got to spend some time playing the VBT700 over the weekend and was quite impressed with it. I actually like the D Activators and find them very usable with a very nice and articulate "clean" sound w/o being "tinny" (after adjusting the tone knob to a slightly above middle position). Really dig the neck position pickup's tone. No complaints.

I have a SD PGNJ/SD JBJ along w/a Switchcraft Push Pull 500K Pot/Fender TBX Tone/Gibson 3 Way Toggle/Switchcraft Cannon Jack that I was thinking about swapping into it but I think I will save those for another guitar.
