2011 Les Paul 57' RI Spec Sheet

Does anyone know where I can find the spec sheet for the 2011 model year of the 57' RI LP? I've searched Google using every permutation of the name and model year that I can think of, and I can't find it. I'm looking for the specific details like fret wire size, nut material, glue type used etc. etc. etc. If it's on the Gibson site, I can't find it.

I think I know "most" of the specs, but they seem to change the historic specs every year just a bit. I'm not looking for the "True Historic" model (not even sure they had that in 11'), or Artist Series or anything else. Just the plain olé' Custom Shop 57' RI specs.

Thanks.

Sweet LP. A quick search identified it as a Wildwood Spec model, which means you should contact them for a spec sheet. Apparently, even the pickups are to their specs, which are bound to sound great and worth leaving in.

I'm jealous. That's a killer guitar! Love pelham blue.

Wait, what? Did you just get this?

Call Wildwood, they will know.

Well that's just sexy as hell.....

Absolutely love the Pelham Blue... I've got a 2015 Midtown Standard in the same color, by far my favorite guitar aesthetically....

Nice looking axe...looks like the body colour is Pelham blue. I really dig the aged metal hardware.;)

Re: 2011 Les Paul 57' RI Spec Sheet

I actually hadn't bought it when I posted this....I was just thinking about it, considering it and I wanted to know more about it first. I've since gone ahead and bought it. I was really just looking at Gold Tops, because I had an R7 that I had to sell back in 07', and I've always regretted it. I was browsing adds and came across this one. Pelham blue was the last color on my mind, as I normally don't care for solid color guitars unless they're Gold Tops.

I showed this to my wife and she immediately said...."OMG, you HAVE to buy that". I really didn't want to spend the $$$ right now, but my wife had received a small windfall from an auto accident she was in, and she wanted me to use that money for this and I'll replace her money later. I thought that was sweet of her. She is pretty good to me.

I'd never seen an R7 in Pelham blue before but as I searched the net all I really came up with was one or two prior Reverb sales. The VOS finish and the aged cream plastic, along with the aged hardware really stood out to me as very unique and beautiful, even though I'd never given the color a 2nd thought. It will be a very unique guitar and one not many people have. I could have bought a sweet flame top for the same $$, but there will always be nice flame tops available. This was something different.

Joe, I couldn't find anything in my Google searches about it being a Wildwood guitar. Just this morning the seller sent me a note saying he thinks he has the original spec sheet from when he bought it. He's going to find it and send it to my email. He said he thinks it was a run from Music Zoo where he bought it, but couldn't remember if that was it. He did say he knew it was from a special run.

It will be here next week, and I'm excited for it to arrive. It has a natural back, but the stain is slightly darker than the normal natural, like a light bourbon. I'll give a full report and pics when it gets here. Oh, and no need to upgrade hardware on this one... it comes with an ABR-1 and aluminum tail piece already. And if the pickups are like Joe says, those might just stay too!

Yeah.... wasn't planning on it but my wife almost insisted, so I said yes dear!

Beautiful!

Thanks Bill....I know you have a wonderful collection and you know what you're talking about.

Wow, one of my favourites.

I think it has just become my new favorite as well.

I'm used to seeing the Pelham blue in a gloss finish and brighter overall color, so this one threw me for a loop at first. I love the VOS finish on it, and I generally don't like VOS on guitars. Oh, and I had to look up the Midtown Standard as well, I'd never seen it... but that is one great looking guitar for sure!!

The aged plastic, hardware and VOS finish are really what pushed me over the edge on this one. It all seemed to come together just right.

Re: 2011 Les Paul 57' RI Spec Sheet

Thanks Jeremy. It's a departure from the uber flamed LP's. Don't get me wrong, I do love those but I think there will always be pretty flame tops available. This one is unique and through my researching this model, I've not found another VOS Pelham Blue. I'm sure they're out there though. I'll post up some more pics and info when the guitar arrives.

What did Tom Petty say....." The Waiting Is The Hardest Part."

Re: 2011 Les Paul 57' RI Spec Sheet

Dig it. I'm starting the long, slow save up for either an LP Standard or a USA Tele. Those pics aren't helping.

Re: 2011 Les Paul 57' RI Spec Sheet

Just to throw fuel on the fire, now is a great time to buy a Lester. It's a buyers market and there are a lot of great LP's that are a relative bargain. Go to the Guitar Center site and look for the 2018 Les Paul Standard. Not the Standard T or Classic, just the Standard. GC wants $3200 for it on line. You can likely pick it up for a bit less, but that is the starting street price for one.

For that same $3200, you can get a NICE used Standard and have $1200 left over. You can also get an R7 with as much as $600-$700 left over. You are also into the lower range of 58' RI's and a bunch of premium plus tops of all varieties. If you have $4K, you can buy a nice R9 with a great top. I was recently watching an R9 with a killer top in Lemonburst and it sold for $3999. Crazy beautiful guitar.

My point is that for the full "retail" price of a 2018 Standard you can likely buy the Les Paul of your dreams. Hell, you can really do that for $2500 if you don't have to have a Historic Reissue.

Re: 2011 Les Paul 57' RI Spec Sheet

I was recently offered a ridiculous topped R9 for less than $3500. I had to run away...

I bet Gibson could give you the details on that run. I am curious to know what all was spec'd.

Wow, that is a hell of a deal Ayrton.....hard to run away from a deal like that, but I've never spent that much on a guitar. I have these pre-imposed limits in my head that sort of keep me in check. Sort of...

If the seller doesn't come through with the specs I'll get with Gibson. I emailed Music Zoo Thursday night and gave them the serial number, so hopefully I'll hear back from them. If I don't, I'll call them. Then I'll try calling Gibson. My understanding is there are only certain things dealers can change, like pickup specs, colors, finishes, hardware and some get to pick the billets for the tops. It's sort of like the M2M program Gibson has for consumers (made to measure). You can pick from a menu of details specific to the model you want to buy, but it's limited. For instance, you can't request a top that would be on a 59' reissue be put on a 58' reissue. Gibson will also never guarantee a guitar of a certain weight.

I'm curious too about the specific appointments for this guitar, since it's fairly unusual. The seller told me this guitar weighs 9.1 pounds, which isn't bad for a non weight relieved body.

Edit*** Anyone looking for a Les Paul owes it to themselves to check the member classified's at the My Les Paul forum. I see crazy deals there all the time. Standards in the $1600 range and RI's are even better. A 58' RI Plaintop in a really pretty washed cherry VOS finish sold for $2800. The prices are really in line with ACTUAL value, because those guys know what the market actually brings on the various models and they're always selling one LP they own to chase another. Good dele to be had.

My limit is $3k and I am out of space. I have sold off several already. I should have bought Joe’s LP
