Re: 2014 Gibson Lineup Released

It's when I see this lineup that I'm glad I stuck with the classics as far as Gibson is concerned. I see so many models in that lineup that will just not stand the test of time, and will be the target of ridicule and serious interrogation marks in 20 year.

Gibiphone?

Is it just me, or are they making a BONUS feature out of cost cutting? Isnt it cheaper to extend the frets over the binding as opposed to bind over the frets?

One piece finger boards? They been using laminates?
Bout time they change those dinky worthess strap buttons tho!

those are def made in not the usa with not the solid wood, lol

Ate those made... Not in the USA?

They're made in the USA. They're the low end models.

Re: 2014 Gibson Lineup Released

Exactly. The reason they are cheap is because they have no laquer, just stained. They are actually very nice but the lack of finish does make them open to easily denting. I think these are a great deal for a very good guitar. People shouldn't judge them until they've tried them. I do have to agree that making over the binding frets look like a plus is only a plus for them. It saves tons of time opposed to the nib style fret ends. The one piece fretboard reference is in response to the brief period in 2012 where they used 2 piece rosewood and the started using Richlite and Baked Maple because of the federal seizure.. They only used the 2 piece Rosewood for a very brief period and soon went back to one piece as soon as the case was settled. Not quite sure why they would even remind people that they use 2 piece for thet very brief period.
