24.75 Scale Strats

Re: 24.75 Scale Strats

Pretty stratty - definitely a single coil plus trem guitar. Wouldn’t mind a slightly reduced body mass like I’ve seen some makers use but otherwise looking for pretty close to the real thing.

You get pretty close with a Godin SD . . . two single coils and a trem. Depends on whether or not you're set on the bridge being a single coil, and how attached you are to the strat body shape.

The upper fret access on these guitars is light years better than your typical strat. It's contoured and shaved down.

Jake E Lee Charvel is a 24.75" scale, not sure if that's your thing, not cheap either.

The rumor that Jake's original Strat/Charvel was converted to 24.75" was not true. The current JEL sig model from Charvel is also 25.5" scale.

Re: 24.75 Scale Strats

A shorter scale Strat is gonna lose a bit of strattiness. The scale has more than a little bit to do with that sound.

As far as not being able to tell the difference between 24.75” and 24”, I have 10-52 strings on my 25” PRS and 25.5” Strat. The PRS has a beefier neck, action is very similar, and both have floating vintage style bridges, but the PRS still feels considerably slinkier.

Interesting, in the interviews I saw with Jake he was saying 24.75, but just looked up the specs, you are correct sir. Pretty sure (well, as sure as I can be now) that the short lived ESP ones were Gibson scale.

Re: 24.75 Scale Strats

My 24” scale Westone Concord I is kinda stratty but it’s a hard tail. Has a slightly scaled down body too. Fun little guitar...

I remembered that after I posted and you are correct about the ESP model being short scale.

Another old Peavey to check out would be the Peavey Destiny Custom. HSS, with a Kahler. A guy I used to play with had one. Gorgeous guitar, definitely first class.
