25K Fender S-1 Pots?

I’m sure everyone is aware of the Fender S-1 switch/pot/knob combo. Powerful switching, easy to use and visually unassuming.

I’ve got an idea that would require a 25K version due to active electronics. A google search shows no 25K versions. Any ideas on how to modify one of the standard versions? I think a 25K resistor in parallel would really mess with the taper. Any ideas?

It might be a long shot, but you could always buy a 25k pot from the same series of pots. Gently bend back the tabs at the red arrow. Lift out the wafer at the green arrow. Gently push out the shaft at the blue arrow, and replace it with the 25k wafer. I've done things like this before when replacing the guts of a "vintage" pot so that it retained the look of being unmolested.

That is literally what I was wondering.... Do you know what series would be the same?

I love the S1 switches..but they are expensive! So hopefully you can do this without ruining the S1. Fender can charge anything they want, really- they are the only one making these available.

I think they're just ordinary CTS 24mm pots. Let me look through my parts and see what looks like it might work. I'll even disassemble my own S1 and see if it's doable. Hopefully, I can do this today. We're just getting ready to head out of town for a week.

Well . . . it comes apart real easy:

But now I realize the hard part. You'd need to get a 25k dual-concentric pot so that the wafer in question will have the hole in the middle, and slide off the shaft. You'd probably destroy the 25k pot in the attempt, but at least you could put the S1 back together if it didn't work.

I might have an old dual-concentric pot around in my junk box. If I do, I'll see how it comes apart.
