I wonder what a cab with a mix of 10's and 12's is like?
My sentiments echo Ryan's. I don't imagine that you want to lose the beautiful thump of your Hovercraft, now do you?
played a peavey classic 50 4x10 combo yesterday at a jam.
Nice sounding amp. Did not care for the 10s though. They are quite clear/articulate and bright/chimey, like everyone said.
But they are incapable of dishing out the thump. No punch, no growl or OOMPH.
I'll take 12s any day.

I have two Avatar 2x10 cabs with Greenback 10s for use with a Trinity 18 (Marshall 18 clone), closed back, and it is it for the types of tones and crunch that you would associate with pre early 80s Marshall/Greenback sound. Punchy, and it cuts through in the mix. Very happy! Easier to haul than 12s also.
Most of my prior experience was with 12s, but I hear no reason to look back.
