2x12 OHM Question

I just swapped out 2 sh*tty 16 ohm speakers with 2 great Celestion V60's, both rated at 8ohms...

Heres the thing... mono my cab was running 8 ohms... now i've changed the speakers, does that mean it's running more or less... or exactly the same now?

sorry for my retardation

Re: 2x12 OHM Question

I depends on how it's wired. If it's wired the same way (according to what you describe, it should be parallel), the impedence would be 4 ohms. With two 8 ohms speakers connected in parallel, it would be 4 ohms total, and with two 8 ohms speakers connected in series, it would be 16 ohms total. My amp only has 8 ohms output impedence, so I had to go with two 16 ohms speakers wired in parallel in my 2x12 cab to match it.

baritone is right on. You either have a 16 ohm cab or a 4 ohm cab based on the way it's wired. Like he said, if you wired it exactly like it was before, it's now a 4 ohm cab. Try the wiring both ways and see if you like one way better than the other. Lot's of personal preference there.
