A salesman at a local music store onve told me that he thinks that he thinks that most guitarists must own 3 guitars (at least)- a Strat, a Les Paul and a shredding guitar like a Jackson or an Ibanez.

I'm not really into Super Strat and pointy guitars... I don't even try them anymore when I'm in a store... so my choice would be different: a Strat (with a good trem), a Tele and my Nighthawk (yeah I'm in love with this one).

What would be your choice - for 3 guitars that would handle most of your needs?


And of course, I want more then 3 axes... I want a radical guitar just to look good on stage and a semi hollow, well, because I have been jazzing.. but I don't really need them... :smokin:

I wouldn't buy a strat/tele anymore, i'm done with the singlecoils.

-Larivee Dreadnaught acoustic
-Maple fretboard Frankentele with a strat middle pickup, Floyd rose, and piezo saddles.

That's more ground covered than I need. Damn I want a tele.

Me:

1) Strat (Lite Ash Strat) is my #1 (made from ash, duh)
2) Les Paul (or clone) with dual humbuckers and splittable (Jazz/JB) made from mahogany (or korina if I get rich )
3) Basswood guitar of some sort, HH or HSH.

I've always considered the main 3 body woods I like to be those three, in that order.

They would cover most of the ground I play (or at least attempt to play:fingersx: ).

My LP resonates so well, I paly it almost as much unplugged as I do plugged in, so I would use that as a substitute for an acoustic.

Don't go with the must have a shredder theme. But if I could only have 3
a semi hollow probably 335, a Strat and a LP. Surprise surprise that's what I've got!

Les Paul, Hollow Body with some kind of Bigsby, and an Ibanez JEM.

A strat almost made the cut, but I though that whatever I play with a strat the "shredding one" will just have to take it. I'm saving money as we speak
