3 Humbuckers and 3 Single Coils

Diminished Triad

If designing a lead guitar for generally heavy rock (metal now and then and a little more classic rock in between) what 3 single coils and what 3 humbuckers would you prefer on either guitar? What order? I'd prefer all passive pickups if possible.

For single coils I was thinking SSL-1 (Vintage for Strat) at the neck, SSL-5 (Custom for Strat) in the middle, and then SSL-3 (Hot for Strat) in the bridge position.

For the humbuckers, I was thinking '59 at the neck position, or the Jazz model..... a JB....and then an Invader in the bridge position.

Both designs would provide vintage sound from neck pickups then quickly warm up in the middle and end with real hot bridge pickups. What do you guys think? Do single coils get much hotter and fuller than SSL-3's and are there SD pups in humbucker form hotter than the Invader series? Can it get hotter than an Invader in humbucker (passive) form?

The bridge pickups really need to rock and burn but looking for front end companions at the neck position that could still handle some sweet picking during rock ballads if necessary or be able to play rhythm without being too grungy. Saving the heavy stuff for the bridge position.

Thanks!

3 humbuckers? why would you want that? or why would you want 3 singles for metal?

Are you sure you know what you want to achieve?

I've always wanted to try a 59 in the neck, 59/custom hybrid middle, and custom bridge in a 3 hum guitar.

Yes, generally for heavy rock but now and then metal.....and more often classic rock leads. I'd like one humbucker and one single coil set up. Thanks!
