Haha, this is funny because...
Last night I played 3Monkeys Orangutan 1x12 with the volume maxed
And they are rare, very rare (did I say RARE) here in Finland. A friend of mine is considering to trade his Red Plate AstroDastDuo to Orangutan so we took it to a ride.
The voice knob is really good. When turned down the amp behaves very much like a Fender Blackface would and when maxed the amp turns into AC30ish mid thick amp. The dynamics were unbelievable. We had the volume maxed and you could still pick clean chords, put a little more power and a heavenly breakup comes in, slam that mofo and you are a rockstar.
It eats pedals very well. In my friends board there was Analogman King of Tone, Analogman SunFace, Diamond Memory Lane, MXR Phase 90, Paul Cochrane Timmy & GLab Wowee Wah. Took everyone of them really well, even if stacked. No mush, really good clarity still maintained. The amps own boost is really good too. We boosted the lows, put the Sunface on and I smashed some stoner with my 7 string Ibby, was awesome.
But the important thing that we noticed was that the amps dynamics shined through single coils. His custom made LP was completely lost with the amp, like.... hmmmm... identity crisis would I say
The humbuckers (somewhere around 8.5-9k, alnico V) didn't work at all with the amp. On the other hand his Fender Custom Shop 69' strat and that amp were a match made in heaven. Absolutely amazing. With his pedalboard we managed to find every almost exact tone from SRV & Hendrix to Gilmour & May.
If someone has the chance to buy one, do it and make me jeallous.
