My experience is with Phat Cats, and mag swaps make them very usable; you can really dial in the EQ you want, better than with an HB. The Mean 90 has gotten some good reviews here & is worth a shot. These can really clear up any mud that a neck HB may have. You can actually get some bridge-style bite.
A recent thread on the Lounge said that dog-ears can fit a HB slot with a little minor woodwork, which would be covered by a standard P-90 spacer. I'd like to try it.
