$359 for an EVH pickup?

Re: $359 for an EVH pickup?

that is the new humbucker made by Fender/EVH. it is the exact same pickup in the $25K frankie replicas. it is hand signed by edward, aged and is limited to like 300 (or something like that). there also a non signed version, its the same pickup, only not signed by eddie and not aged.

The EVH Frankenstein pick up was manufactured by the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop for EVH Gear.

500 is the actual number that were made.

:fing2:... and anywhere from $220 to $250 less than the relic version which most retailers are selling for a mere $399!

It's 90% in the fingers and brain. Once you get the style down, the sound comes fairly easy.

Re: $359 for an EVH pickup?

Best thing is the relic won´t get you any closer to any tone EVH ever recorded, because it´s the condition Frankie´s PU is in NOW, not 20 years ago. And AFAIK Frankie hasn´t been used on a record in quite some time.. :laugh2:

Wow.... I thought $150 for it from Musician's Friend was absurd.

Edit- I had the price $30 too high. Still absurd, though.

true, but fender/evh owns the rights to it so they can re-create it if they wanted. That is why SD had to come up with that new custom shop model, the IM-1 or something like that, because they dont have the rights to the EVH humbucker

Re: $359 for an EVH pickup?

The IM-1 is 14k the '78 is 9k, the pups in the new wolfgang are ceramic. God knows what this one is like
I don't know what an EVH pickup is anymore....
