36 frets?! WTF?!

Re: 36 frets?! WTF?!

Wahburn did a 36 fret guitar back in the 80's which looked like a superstrat even had a hand hold.

AND had the Stevens extended cutaway! 29 and 36 fret neck through versions and a 29 fret bolt on in the Neptune. I WANT one of those or a Hamer Californian with the 29 frets just don't have the $$ right now as they are not cheap! I can use the extra frets at times if for nothing else doing trem picking stuff for worship high up.

Re: 36 frets?! WTF?!

True.
I have this blank waiting.

I like odd looking shred type guitars

That Blue V looks very coool. But whts the point of having a pickup under the fretboard, in the other guitars.

Re: 36 frets?! WTF?!

I think Dave from doberman guitars uses a high powered bridge pickup underneath, It does work but its not ideal imo. This is why i have two ibanez rg550xh neck simulators ready for some projects.

Re: 36 frets?! WTF?!

If it's got 36 frets it should probably just have a bridge pickup imo

This is perfectly acceptable, 27 frets is just fine IMO. I honestly dont know how you would manage to play 36 frets comfortably at all. Sounds cramped

Well think of the the access even up to 30thfret on a 36 fret. I am talking no heel nothing. So the last octave aside, access to the prior is fun and truly effortless. I built mine as a challenge not because i need them plus i already have a bou8nth of regular guitars.

You seen this one bro?

The only thing that pains me about most of these designs is fret access. Like i have mentioned before it makes a hard guitar to play even harder.
For example this mayones Nice guitar but the last octave would be impossible to even ''try'' and play

mmmm yum

Re: 36 frets?! WTF?!

I honestly have never picked up a guitar with more than 24 frets. How the heck to you fret one of those in the higher register with the frets so close together? Is it light touch as if the neck was scalloped?

Re: 36 frets?! WTF?!

I kind of like that Ibanez. Looks like they took one of there bass bodies and scaled it down and altered it slightly. Looks good , would look better with a reverce 6 on a side peg head!

Re: 36 frets?! WTF?!

Ya, it would piss me off too. Every time you played it, it would look like it was hump your _____ (insert what ever body part the lower bout would be closest to, which is all dependent on how high or low you where your guitars when you play standing up). LOL
