40 watt soldering iron enough?

Re: 40 watt soldering iron enough?

Yeeeaahhh. Nearly $300 and no tips included.

Hakko discontinued the 936 model, but you can fine them HERE for $85 while they are still in stock

392° F to 896° F. good for pickup installs and working on boards (amps, pedals, etc). I've been able to score replacement tips for it at Radio Shack.

You have to be VERY good at soldering to correctly solder p'up covers with a 40W iron, even with a station.

I use a 30W, pencil iron to solder everything, even on the back of the pots.

However, to solder covers, I have a 100W iron with a chisel tip I use almost exclusively for that.
