I currently have one guitar tuned and intonated at 440 and one at 432. Which ever one I've been playing for over 3 minutes is the one that sounds right. True story.

I've yet to find anything special about the 432 tuning other than the nice low string tension. I've yet to see anyone show the math that claims it's special.

But I want to believe.

BTW, the Berlin Philmarmonic tuning would have been A445.

A female singer who I used to work with, and who now lives waaay up north, is now doing a music course and was emailing me about this stuff. It seems she was put on to it by some of her hippy-trippy, cosmic friends, and it's the kind of stuff she gets right into.

I told her not to worry about it until she has mastered the basics of the theory she's learning, then she can experiment with anything and everything. Otherwise it's just another distraction from the main issue. Plenty of moving music has been made in good old 440. I'd give the same advice to anybody who asked me.

If you want to heal and/ or move people with music, learn music first. Music is more about intervals between notes, not the exact tuning of the note one starts with.

However, if you can dine out with your two chords on this stuff, go for it. Good luck when you encounter a piano.

More tension gives a bit brighter sound to the instruments. But what really makes a difference is when you start messing with tuning temperaments.

MY experience with it: Great for "perfect" 3rds, **** for "perfect" 5ths.

Kind of the inverse of normal 440.

Who cares anyways? Micro-tuning is the way to go! Equal temperament is for n00bs. :rolleyes:

Who was that crazy guy who used to run for president in the US all the time back in the 80s? Wasn't one of his campaign promises to get rid of 440? I think he ended up going to jail for campaign finance stuff. Damn, wish I could remember his name.

How's that for a political platform, though?

heh so I've been playing in 432hz all these times I tuned by ear and tried to play with someone else and was flat. Cool. I'm in tune with mother nature at least.

If my B is flat, does that mean I'm starting to join the cult? Does it come with a cool robe like SunnO)))) or Gandalf?

I just tuned my Gibson SG down to 432 Hz. I thought why not?;) I was trying to find 440 Hz on the fretboard & it's on the 2nd string, 10th fret.:) I've been playing guitar for over 25 years now and without using a tuner, I always seem to naturally tune slightly flatter after I check with my tuner. Maybe there's something to this...a scientific natural occurrence happening? Who knows, but it seems like an interesting topic. Certain sound waves do have an affect on you in one way or the other.
