5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

Does anyone know if a Dimarzio 5 way multipole EP1112 is the same as a Fender 5-way super switch?
They look identical as far as the amount of terminals and where they're located.

I used a Dimarzio wiring diagram (with 2 DMZ humbuckers) and it's monstrously off!
I checked the wiring about 4 or 5 times.

I do have the switch facing the right direction.

they are identical
:) as I know.
If you need help with wiring just let me know ;)
BTW: on the dimarzio diagrams there are always some stuf not connected (they assume you have a knowledge that some stuff should be conected.
give me diagram and pictures of your work :)

here's an email I sent to Dimarzio tech support:

"Hello,
I used this wiring diagram from the Dimarzio website:

http://www.dimarzio.com/sites/default/files/diagrams/2hum1vol1tone_ep1112series.pdf
(2 humbuckers, 1 Volume, 1 Tone, 5 Way super switch)
I have a PafPro in the neck and a Breed in the bridge.
It's a Fender Blacktop Strat (H/H)

The results I got are all wrong.
I'm wondering if the switch I used is compatible with the Dimarzio diagram?
I used a Fender 5-WAY SUPER SWITCH
P.N. 0992251000
It appears to be a standard 5 way switch with 2 rows of terminals.

I checked the wiring about 5 times- and it's always the same.

According to the Dimarzio wiring diagram, it's supposed to be:
#1- neck
#2- bridge/neck (outside coils series)
#3- bridge & neck
#4- bridge/neck (inside coils series)
#5- bridge

Instead, this is what I get:
#1- neck split
#2- neck split
#3- bridge series/neck split
#4- something out of phase ?
#5- bridge

I feel like there is an obvious problem that I am missing- is it an incompatible switch?

Thank You,
Kurt"

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

Damn- I tried to change back the color to a lighter color and I can't do it (fast enough)!

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

I just opened it up and noticed that I forgot to ground out a terminal on the volume pot.
I know that would screw up the volume pot, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't interfere with the switch wiring!?

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

SO:
Bridge red should be connected to:
Pot - 1, 3, 4 in first line (HOT)
Bridge white and black:
Pot - 2 in first line (HOT) pot - 4 in second (ground)
green you see

Neck:
red - pots 3 4 5 in first (hot)
wh and bk - like in bridge but to upstairs
green you see.

remember (WH and BK) together in dimarzio pickup only!!!!!!!!
dark blue on 5 way is neutral connected only to second pot in first and 4th in second :) (once HOT once ground as you see).
give me an info if its work.

BTW Iam absent from wed. to fr. this week (have a conference in another country).
Sorry for my eng. - not my native.

Wait- That wiring isn't for the combination I chose - is it?
Isn't that a generic wiring?

I wanted:

1) neck
2)- Neck split(south coil)/bridge split(north coil) in "series"
3)- neck/bridge
4)- neck split(north coil)/bridge split(south coil) in series
5)- bridge

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

sorry bu it seams that the diagram from dimarzio is good.
you need to give me pictures of your wiring (elek box) many to check them

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

I have used this wiring too:

Thanks- but I'm assuming (?) the two coils are wired in parallel, where I want them wired together in series.

However, I think my problem may be some internal problem with one of my pickups, which I might have modded too much. );

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

Hmm, maybe they are in that diagram...If 2 & 4 are wired in parallel, it is more stratty, and in series it would be more like a very spread-apart humbucker, right?

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

dimarzio diagram is good if you have dimarzio pickups.
if not look at the SD color codding that i gave you.
should work.

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

to solve this problem show me pictures of your guitar :)
elek box.

Re: 5 way (24 terminal) multipole switch confusion

tell me which pickups you are using (dimarzio or maybe seymore??). Can be that the wires collors are wrong ;)
