5 way switch, simulate turning down neck or bridge volume on pos 2 & 4 HH, VOL/TONE

I have a HH guitar with a master volume, master tone, and a 5 way. I really miss the sound of a Les Paul in the middle position, with the neck volume turned down to 8 or 9 (I use this sound for dirty rhythm work a lot.. anyone who has played a les paul will know this sound, it emphasizes the bridge pickup, while still sounding different to just the bridge pickup alone).. is there a way that I can simulate the sound of turning down the neck pickup while in the middle position? Some kind of resistor added to the circuit while in position #2? Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have searched and cannot find info (although I seem to remember reading about this previously..)

Here is what I'm looking to wire up:

5. Neck Humbucker
4. Inner coils in series
3. Neck and Bridge Humbuckers (standard gibson middle position sound)
2. Neck and Bridge Humbuckers, with the neck pickup volume drop to emphasize the bridge pickup
1. Bridge Humbucker

Thanks everyone!

PS this is my first post on the forum, I've really enjoyed reading other posts so far. PPS I'm using SD pearly gates 4 conductor Humbucker pickups

EDIT I'm using 500k volume and tone pots

It could be done with a resistor between the neck pickup and that position on the switch, however you would need to know what the neck volume pot's resistance reading was on that setting.

Assuming the sound you're used to hearing is a 500K pot turned down 10-20% (9-8), and the resistance at that position is about 450K then you'll need a resistor to mimic that.

If you use a trimpot, you can fine tune it to your taste.

Thanks for the replies!! I love the idea of a trimpot, I will investigate making that happen.

Thanks!

Note: If you wire it between the pickup and the switch, then the neck pickup will be decreased all the time, including when it's on it's own.

but be easily accomplished with a 5 way super switch
