First of all, I never recommended a low-wattage amp. Secondly, my amps are good enough for me. That's all that matters. And only I can judge that.

it is a headroom thing too. a 50W 1987x will break up nicely around 1.5. a 100W 1959 plexi will have way more headroom. sometimes i find the easy clipping 1987x to get annoying for some tunes. for those tunes a 100W would work well.

then again, my fender pro reverb won't clip at 8.

so if you want alot of headroom, consider a fender or other 6L6 powered amp that is nice or a 100W EL34 powered amp.
