50k and 25k Volume pots?

I read somewhere that active pickups typically use 50k and 25k volume pots.

Is there any truth to this? And if so why is it that active pickups could not use 250/500k pots?

its because they use active electronics, which have preamps. if you used normal pots it would be loud and harsh. 25-50k is for single coil type active pups.. i think 100k is for humbucker type actives... i really am no sure because i dont use active electronics
