50s wiring for master tone and 2 volumes?

Hey guys,

I am resoldering my guitar completely, and would like to have master tone and 2 volumes according to this diagram:

However I was interested in applying 50's wiring to this setup, how would I go around doing this? And if I do this, will the volumes still be independent, ie could I switch the neck off completely but keep the bridge on and get a kill switch effect with the 3 way?

Thanks in advance :)

Easy. Wire it just like the diagram you provided. :) The tone control is already connected after the volume controls in that diagram, and that's what the 50's mod is all about.

Haha alright, thanks a lot, wish I understood electronics a bit more now :)

Won't this scheme make one of the volumes act like a master when the switch is in the middle position?

Try looking up a schematic for original Explorer or V wiring. If that ain't "1950's wiring" with three pots like you describe, I don't know what is. Maybe some of their archtops had that control layout too; I dunno.

Those are dependent volumes and, both are some kind of masters, since they are grounding the jack's hot. As soon as you totally roll off one, you shut up the guitar.
This is the standard way as double humbucker guitars are often wired.
