LOL.....The 5150 head in to the 5150 cab IS the Carnal Knowledge tone.....LOL.Farkus said:The 5150 head into the 5150 cab nails the Carnal Knowledge tone. I prefer the 5150 head into a JCM 900 cab, though; it has been some time since I played one, but if IIRC the 5150 was brighter than my 900.
The 5150 cab has a unique voice. I would definitely test it with your amp head prior to buying.
Good luck!

Now that is funny. The ones who say he didn't use them or otherwise are the ones who still think that he uses some magic box backstage that nobody knows about...LOL. I have a magazine somewhere from the Carnal Knowledge time frame that shows what the settings on his amp where. I was glad I kept it because when I got the head, I dialed those settings in and was floored. Granted I wasn't running it through a 5150 cab but the tone was incredible. Sometimes I wish I still had that amp, very little though anymore.Farkus said:Well, yeah it is!
It's that I was literally shocked at how well I could replicate his tone with the 5150 half stack. I'm used to other players saying that he didn't use them, or that the guts of the 5150's were ripped out and thrown away, etc. The point is that they really do get that tone. :smokin:

Those cabs are really nice. I like the tone from them. Wish I had the cab when I owned the head. It still sounded good through the old Music Man cab though.
True, he did use an SLO I think on most of that one but he did use the 5150 prototype some of the tracks as well. If I remember correctly, the tone he was looking for was a combination of his old Super Lead and the Soldano.WhoFan said:The F.U.C.K. album was recorded mostly with a Soldano amp..... But the 5150 has that albums sound built in for sure!
