5150 combo Gain

I think the gain on my 5150 combo is broke. If I turn the gain up past 6-10, theres almost no change. Could this be a broken gain stage or something like that? I don't think its the tubes, as they're relatively new.

I owned the head version years ago and i can remember that anything past
7 on the gain setting didnt produce much change, maybe a bit fuzzier.
Does yours still have heaps of gain, or does it sound like its laking some sizzle?

The 5150 I had was the same way. It's just the nature of the INSANE amounts of gain on that amp. But do you really need much more gain?

oh it has lots...I'm thinking the presence knob has a big effect on the amount of overdriven sound. I find though that I can't turn the presence up too high or there is too much pick attack.
