5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

WITH FULL DISTORTION

F. Hails Railsologist
Well first of all
it´s LOUD. There´s no chance... i´m not kidding AT ALL.;
ahahahahahaahahahahahahah
it gives me ****ing DIZZYNESS every time i play it.
I didn´t play it in the PROPPER volume and gain output..
I can´t comment on the TONE or distortion of it just based in my 6 6 6 x(bass-middle-treble-) Satanic Knob Settings... and ONLY pre gain on 3 OR 4.. and Post Gain on 2 or 3, Maybe On 4. (lead channel)
BUT, i´m feeling compelled to ask for some confirmations about the tonal characteristics of the 5150.

I´m running it through a 2x12 Mesa boogie Cabinet. loaded with the V30´S.(While my 4x12 1960 ´don´t arrive)

what i can say is :
the overal sound is NOT HARSH(AHAHAHA THANKS)
The Bass seem to be Tight, BUT not ultra tight. Tight enough.(again, must be the LOW Output levels that didn´t show the amps real potential)
The middles are ****ing A LOT and insane. i liked it...
and the Highs Are very good For Soloing and for chord stuffs.
the tone is kinda Dry... like ICE. eheheheheh
IS that what i can expect from this amp at this Lower output settings?

What i missed(again, could be the lower output settings) on this tube stuff is the SS sustain ahahahaahahahahahahahahah(ok, make fun with me )

The 2x12 Cabinet aren´t Holding the power enough too, ahahahahahaha

****ing hails and thank´s for all the help on the amps acquisition threads.
Hails

PS - SOUNDCLIPS AND VIDEOS Will delay a little.. cause i need to tweak this thing properly and i want to post GREAT soundclips... EVEN THOUGH they will be only GUITAR and no other instruments.

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

That amp will sound better on that Marshall 4-12, since the bass will sound more crushing. Put an overdrive pedal in front of it, if you want to have infinite sustain, like you're used to. You notice the benefit of tubes most when you crank that thing up.

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

haha with some distortion...
raise the gain to get more sustain

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

AHAHAHAH AHAHAHA STOP CRACKING ME UP MARCEL. ahahahahah
i´m affraid to do that.. the distortion IS SO good at that low volume
ahahahaahahahahahah

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

ahahahahahah man
this 5150 is not a ****ing tube machine.. it can take a porn actor´s PLace...it can Drill Unholy Holes in Jenna Jameson´s Ass! :omg:
:eyecrazy:

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

The G12T-75's in that 1960 are going to tighten up the amp a bit. I have no idea what you mean about a lack of sustain though. Mine has plenty. I keep the gain on 5-6 without an OD infront, though. Also, I found my favorite settings yesterday... bass at 6, mids at 4, treble at 4.

The "dry" tone you're referring to is the inherent nature of the amp. It's made to sound like that.

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

i liked the mids at 3, or 4 Too.
by lack of sustain, i mean.. when SOLOING if we stop a little the sound cuts...
ah... don´t know how to explain.
aahahahahahah
forget about that

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

It's hard to explain when an amp sounds dry, but I can tell you it's the opposite of a wet sounding amp, LOL.

ahh that helps :laugh2: :laugh2:

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

Dry = no effects whatsoever (not even reverb). Think Angus Young
Wet = with effects

that's what I was thinking of too, coz you said this is the dry signal etc....
but if we talk about amps do we mean the same??
