5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

Well, it is in the commercial end of "metal", rock or whatever you wanna classify them as (personally I would rather say rock, since it isn't what I really consider metal :) )

I wonder how the mastered version should sound... :smack:
cant tell ya.. my copy shipped today and i'm not holding my hopes up that i will see it this year

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

Lets just agree that it doesn't matter whether an amp is wet or dry, as long as it can give you some FULL OUT METAL DISTORTION that you love :beerchug:

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

well.. i dont count the powerball as dry.. to me it's pretty saturated form the clips i heard...

but dry or not, they sound ****ing incredible

****ing hails.
i´m seeing that i´ll have to wait until next YEAR(AHAHAHA) to propper test my 5150 and the 4x12 that already arrived.
ahahahah but they will only deiver it to my house On monday,.

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

Seriously, for the sound you want use a good OD together with the amps distortion channel. Set the od at maximum level and minimum gain.
Then you will have 'FULL WET DISTORTION!' ;) That is what you want right?

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

I ´ll write a letter to Jim dunlop and ask him to do me a Signature Overdrive pedal
The Wet Overdrive pedal!

WITH FULL DISTORTION said:
Well first of all
it´s LOUD. There´s no chance... i´m not kidding AT ALL.;
ahahahahahaahahahahahahah
it gives me ****ing DIZZYNESS every time i play it.
I didn´t play it in the PROPPER volume and gain output..
I can´t comment on the TONE or distortion of it just based in my 6 6 6 x(bass-middle-treble-) Satanic Knob Settings... and ONLY pre gain on 3 OR 4.. and Post Gain on 2 or 3, Maybe On 4. (lead channel)
BUT, i´m feeling compelled to ask for some confirmations about the tonal characteristics of the 5150.

I´m running it through a 2x12 Mesa boogie Cabinet. loaded with the V30´S.(While my 4x12 1960 ´don´t arrive)

what i can say is :
the overal sound is NOT HARSH(AHAHAHA THANKS)
The Bass seem to be Tight, BUT not ultra tight. Tight enough.(again, must be the LOW Output levels that didn´t show the amps real potential)
The middles are ****ing A LOT and insane. i liked it...
and the Highs Are very good For Soloing and for chord stuffs.
the tone is kinda Dry... like ICE. eheheheheh
IS that what i can expect from this amp at this Lower output settings?

What i missed(again, could be the lower output settings) on this tube stuff is the SS sustain ahahahaahahahahahahahahah(ok, make fun with me )

The 2x12 Cabinet aren´t Holding the power enough too, ahahahahahaha

****ing hails and thank´s for all the help on the amps acquisition threads.
Hails

PS - SOUNDCLIPS AND VIDEOS Will delay a little.. cause i need to tweak this thing properly and i want to post GREAT soundclips... EVEN THOUGH they will be only GUITAR and no other instruments.

That little RESONANCE controll deepy effects the over all bass sound dosn't it! I find when i'm using the 5150 thru smaller cabs i'm turning that up.. but thru larger cabs i cut it back to half way at least... it controlls the kick the amp gives ya... I also find thru loud volume settings i cut that controll way back as well.. The 5150 cab i have is the straight face cab... that cab kicks! I am trying to find a Marshall cab for cheap to go with my JCM 800 head oneday and i will find out what the 5150 sounds like thru a Marshall then too...

Re: 5150(not a review YET) Thoughts

I really don't think a pedal is necessary with the 5150. My personal experience with pedals is that it makes certain amps sound VERY compressed and affects the dynamics of guitar tone.
