Is the Bogner really that much better than the 5150 regardless of the price. I know I dont have anywhere close to enough money to afford one and I'm perfectly happy with my amp, its just something thats been bugging me lately.

Re: 5150 vs ubershall

If i could afford the Bogner stuff i'd own one i'm sure..... but for cost reasons i have a 5150 stack that i really love!!! I see 5150 heads used from time to time as low as $500 Canadian.... oneday i plan to snag another used 5150 head as backup..

Re: 5150 vs ubershall

If I had the cash I'd be playin through an ubershcall too...But the Krank is what i can afford...and I loves me krank too ;).

Re: 5150 vs ubershall

Yeah, it's better, but I believe there are better amps for the money, depending on your style.

ENGL Savage/SE/Powerball
Mesa Rectifiers
TriAxis/2:90
MarkIV

And the ultimate metal amp: Framus Cobra.

What artists ues the Framus Cobra?

Re: 5150 vs ubershall

I just heard a clip of the cobra and it sounds awesome but I'm not sure if its better than the uberschall clips.

Re: 5150 vs ubershall

You can easily MOD a 5150
I am not a huge 5150 fan exc that for the price it can do major damage. In LA you could get the halfstack for $600. Lately, peopl ehave been jacking up the prices.

The ENGL and the UBER are the rudest amps ever. The Uber has MASSIVE bass that can hurt you it's so tight and strong, and CHUNK CHUNK for days. It has so much tonal range as well just playing with the knobs - esp the Presence.

Bogner does it AGAIN! Harmonically rich and big. Extra sauce and mojo.

Haha I know a guy how had a cobra and a powerball and never was satisfied! Now he plays a 6505 and is... so it matters which taste and style..

I saw A7X playing uberschall last week and they sound very good but never played an uber :(

Definately the Bogner! Now, I've never played a REAL bogner, but my Line 6 Toneport I bought all of the amp model packs except for one, and out of all 40+ amp models that are built in, by far the BEST SOUNDING for rock is the Uberschall model. Dude I have the gain on only halfway and it does Avenged Sevenfold with ease. I'd love to play the real deal.

Killswitch Engage on their latest record, Unearth's The Encoming Storm, The Absence's From Your Grave was half powerball, half Cobra, James Murphy uses them, so does Biomechanical... I'll think of others later.

Re: 5150 vs ubershall

Oncoming storm is rythm channel of a 5150 + OD808 afaik...
at least at half

Yeah, half of it, but it was mixed more for clarity than for balls. The Framus is like a ballsier, better 5150.
