’53 Style Tapped JB for Tele®...

Re: ’53 Style Tapped JB for Tele®...

i set the bridge pup at full output first, then listen to the tapped bridge, then set the neck so its a little stronger than the tapped output but not as strong as the full. i set the middle pup last and kinda find the best balance between the neck/mid and mid alone. i usually like the tapped bridge/mid volume the lowest so i get a nice rhythm tone that isnt too up in the mix

Jeremy,
I set my strat pickups closer to the treble strings than to the bass strings. I started setting the bridge pickup in the same way but now it is almost flat to get a fat and warmer tone. Is this the way?

mine is pretty flat but use your ears, not your eyes. doesnt matter how it looks if you like the way it sounds.

the strings dont move anywhere near as much near the bridge and the alnico II magnets arent as strong as the alnico V. the bridge position magnets have the least influence on sustain so dont be afraid to get it where you think it sounds best

Thanks Jeremy! How close to the strings do you set your bridge pickup?

Re: ’53 Style Tapped JB for Tele®...

Sorry to bring back an old thread but I am looking at getting a JB tapped tele bridge pickup for my Esquire. I can't seem to find what the positions are once this is wired up like the diagram on the SD site (Seymour W. Duncan Signature Esquire). I would prefer to have the following.....
Pos. #1 (back) Full pickup with no tone
Pos. #2 (middle) Full pickup with vol. and tone
Pos. #3 (front) tapped pickup with vol. and tone.

Hopefully this is how it is wired per the diagram. I would prefer to not have the cocked wah (Arlo/Eldred) mod as I would probably not use it. Thanks for any help on this.

Pretty close if you're still wondering ;)

My esquire is wired cocked with tapped output, tapped volume and tone and full output with tone. Not sure how seymours is wired

It is too bad that I can't get info on these. I even called Duncan today to be left on hold forever. I did talk to MJ for a few minutes but she wasn't sure on wiring and basically read word for word what is on the website for the description. I may just go with a regular 55' Antiquity and deal with the cocked was tone.
