'57 strat questions

Does the '57 reissue have a swimming pool cutout under the pickguard? And is it that much of a difference between that and the American Strat? 'Cause I was going to make a Dave Murray strat in not too long, and he used a '57. Just wondering if I can save myself a few hundred bucks by getting a regular American. Do they still have swimming pool? Cause I'm going to need to put a Super Distortion and a Super 2 in there. If they don't have swimming pool, then I will just buy a late 80's strat like I have already and make one from that.

A 57 reissue is gonna have an SSS route, plus a 57 reissue is also gonna have a 7.25 radius and wire frets making it pretty damn hard to play with out a refert...if you want it to look just like a 57 but have a more modern neck (MJ frets, and a 9.5 radius) as well as being routed for H/S/H get a Jimmy Vaughan Strat...

Just buy an HSS American Strat for as cheap as you can find. Then, you'll already have the pickguard too. You can sell the stock PG if you don't like it, and get something else.....even swap. Then, you won't be paying for all kinds of parts and dealing with routing an SSS body for HSS.

My sentiments too, the JV strats are pretty much the best bang for your buck where strats are concerned. Excellent guitars.

Better made and cheaper. I got one off eBay with graphite bridge and nut and locking tuners for $500.

I would argue that statement...I played several dozen Strats before buying my JV...I had $1200.00 set aside for a Strat, and it came down to a 57 CS reissue, and modded American Standard and my JV...the JV was the cheepest of the bunch and played the best!

the JV Strat is an amazing guitar for the money, and it would be a great guitar if it cost 3 or 4 times what it does! Plus it's so damn close to a 57 reissue...except it plays better!

What's a JV strat, a MIM strat? I am looking for H/S/H wiring.

Dave Murray's 54 Strat has a Dimarzio PAF in the neck, not a Super 2

I know, but I like the Super 2 better. He stuck to the super distortion most of the time. I thought he had another Super Distortion in the neck sometimes too?
