'59 Bassman clone Questions - please help

Hey guys - I've been playing around with the Fender Bassman LTD at my local GC - I took my Strat in the other day and it sounded pretty darn good.

Anyhow, I've read some mixed reviews from owners of the Fender and how there are alot of hand-wired clones that are far superior in overall construction - parts - tone, etc.

Well, can any of you guys point me in the right direction as to which of these Bassman Clone builders I should look into?

I have a budget of about $1500. I don't mind buying used either.

Thanks alot.

-Chris

You might find clones that sound a bit better, but if you ever decide you want to sell the amp, you'll get more back for the real Fender Bassman Reissue than any clone. That might be something to think about when making your decision.

Try a Celtic Edana - contact Scott_F

If you really want a 59 bassman, then get the better bassman deal using a AB165 circuit.

But again, you will get a better sounding amp from Scott...

that may be partly true, however, there are several small builders now that do well in the used market -- Clark, Allen, and Victoria to name a few.

Victoria. $1500 might get you a used one.

there are a couple of dealers in the LA area, btw

Thanks for the input guys. Ive been amp shopping for about a month now and have been really impressed with the Bassman - simple, easy to use and great tone.

But, like you guys, I want the best I can afford, thus my search for a "Better than Fender" amp has begun - so I just need some Amp Builder's names.

I'll take a look at Celtic and Victoria. Any other builders out there improving upon the '59 Bassman?

Thanks for your help.

IF you can live with the idea of a better sounding, PTP electrics, and a hand-build boutique amp, look no uther than a Celtic Amp :usa1: :smokin:

That's what i want to do next year !

$1500 will put you into a used Victoria pretty easily...those amps are damn hard to beat, Mark and the rest of the guys at Victoria are HUGE fans of the narrow panel era tweed fenders and do them right. I would say get a Vicky and don't look back!

You guys rock! Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

It looks like I have a few options to work with - time for me to start checking out these amps. There all so beautiful too. Geez.
