'59/Custom or Custom 5: which one has more "forgiving" treble frequencies?

Hi. I'm wondering which of these models would be better suited for a PRS singlecut, and would cut through a mix without harsh treble frequencies. Thanks.

Custom 5 seems brighter, but I think that's really because it's more scooped in the mids.
It's a great match for guitars with a strong natural midrange. Worked really well for me in a middy sounding PRS SE.

For a guitar with a pretty balanced voice, the Hybrid would probably be the ticket.
It's well-defined but has fairly rich mids. Crisp, not harsh.

Yeah - gonna call similar there. Haven't done a C5 in forever. That said - you get A5-ish highs in both. Agree that the c5 may be "perceived as more because of total lack of mids.

Just saw a comparison video between the JB and the CC. The CC has highs indeed, just a bit sweeter than the JB's. Both sond very nice.

I question the post production processing on that or the guitar.

In a Superstrat? Sure.

In a Les Paul, the CC will be a LOT fatter than a JB.

Both of these winds are much improved with UA5 magnets IMO.
Sweeter highs, chewier mids and a looser feel to the lows.
Then again, I prefer UA5 to A5 in just about any Duncan bridge pickup.

I recently put a Custom 5 in the bridge of a mahogany strat-ish guitar that I built and it sounds absolutely killer! The treble is definitely not very "forgiving" though; closer to "piercing". I swapped the stock polished A5 magnet for a roughcast A5 and it tamed the treble a bit. I also tried a rough UOA5 which sounded good too and also tamed the highs.

I have a Custom5 in an Ibanez SZ, mahogany guitar with a maple top, the quitar is pretty bright acoustically, and the highs were slicing as if on steroids. Swapped a roughcast A5 in it (one that was really rough, texture of 80 grit sandpaper, some supplier's rougcasts are barely different from silk). Now the highs sound normal, still bright but they have substance to them and the mids seem a bit less absent.
