59/custom with alnico II?

I bought a hybrid from metalmachine and wanted to ask is the hybrid with a A2 magnet like a custom-custom lite?
It has the A5 stock but i was after a Custom-custom type tone with less output and a bit more treble bite?

I remember there was a clip of the A2 hybrid in the tips and clips room earlier this year and it sounded bad a$$. I should have tried the hybrid with an A2 before ditching it cause to my ears with the A5 and even the UOA5 it sounded to modern.

The 59C hybrid works well with a2, a3, a4, a5 and uoa5. Its that good. One of the best pups I ever tried. With an a2 its got sweetness and clarity, juiciness and dirt. Not as clear as a seth or as raunchy as a pearly or thick as a custom custom but right in the middle.

To answer the op question. I currently have a cc and 59/custom a2 hybrid in two guitars. I don't feel like the hybrid is as much a cc lite, because it adds articulation, but more like a cc +. The alnico2 slash that the hybrid replaced felt more like a cc -.

I'm not adding anything to the discussion, but I just got an unpotted SH-16 in and put A2 in it right away and added a cover. I just wanted to stay close to a Seth in tone but with a bit more oomph and better splitting.

How did you go about getting one unpotted?

Like both the custom and 59 wind, the hybrid works with a lot of magnets. You'd need to figure out for yourself which is the best magnet for the specific guitar. I had a hybrid which only worked with an A5 in it (in a chambered studio). The Jazz/59 neck hybrid was a little more flexible and worked well with A3 and UOA5 from memory.

^^^^^^ THIS IS WHAT I AM AFTER!

I also really like the seth lover but when i tried one i wished it had more oomph and without having to go custom shop. it is sounding like i made the right decision to buy the hybrid and did the right thing asking about the A2 in it:naughty:
