59N sounds great, not enough output for high gain though

Re: 59N sounds great, not enough output for high gain though

Based on my experience, I'll have to agree with Pepe. I had a Distortion neck in my PRS SE 24, and it was phenomenal on cleans and distortion. Very, very clear on both. At the moment, I have the Fuglybucker set in there, but that may come out.

Re: 59N sounds great, not enough output for high gain though

I've just got some Un-Oriented Ceramic mag bars from AddictionFX.
Am I missing something? I have looked through all of their items and never seen "Un-Oriented." Does he call it something else or am I just missing it?

I adjusted the height, messed with the screws, etc.. I did not try a magnet swap just yet. I think the last time I messed with it, I left it a little low because it sounded more clear (I think....).
This time, I raised it up to where I wanted the power to be, then adjusted the bass poles and lowered the bass side just a touch.
So far so good.

Thanks for all of your help guys!

They do just what you're asking for: more output without the mud in the neck, with a tone that will please even the ceramic haters!

This is THE magnet for the neck p'up all shreddres and metalheads were waiting for, without even know it themselves! ;)

HTH,

Oooooooh reeeelay?

Re: 59N sounds great, not enough output for high gain though

In the single most unshocking revelation...

No but the neck pickup I don't think is supposed to have a great modern overdrive. The bridge is where it's at. I use the neck pickup with a distortion, and it's never really distorted well.

Re: 59N sounds great, not enough output for high gain though

Other than the higher output, what would be the tonal differences between the neck and bridge model?
The website says 6.8khz for the neck and 6khz for the bridge. Would I even notice a difference in tone?

solid advice for the 59n, IMO
i like it a bit high (heh), but it does get a bit much when so close to the strings.

i wouldn't mess with it too much; if you do decide to start swapping mags, leave the 500T alone, and see if you can get an A2 mag off someone local for that 59n.

as good as the stock 59, the A2P, and the PG are, i am yet to try a neck bucker i like more than an A2 59n.
i'll try a seth or ant set one day, and my head will explode.
