Re: 59N Vs The PGN....What I Hear
When I hear a pickup as being to bright or aggressive or hurting my ears, it's that "pick click" thing that is usually what's bugging me.
A little to much "pick click" is what I hear from the JB too and the reason I don't use one in my own guitars, and probably why Seymour uses the JB with 250K pots instead of the usual 500K. 250K pots make a humbucker sound a little to muffled for my tastes, but maybe in a Tele, which is where Seymour uses the JB, 250K might be all right...although I doubt I would like it as I thought the JB sounded muffled when I used one in my Strat with 250K pots.
A little bit of "pick click" (I've also heard it described as "kiss") is fine and helps keep the pickup articulate and whether a pickup has to much or not is a relative thing and totally subjective.
Everyone has thier own threshold of what's "enough" and what's "to much".
Regarding my suggestion to John of the A2Pro, I just figured he was after an uncovered pickup like the PG. If I'd thought John was willing to go for a covered pickup I would have suggested the Seth Lover or Antiquity.

the guy who invented fire said:"Clicky"...that's a good word for it, with the upper mid spike the pick attack really seems to come out a lot more, and that seems to bother a lot of people!
