This is pretty hard to understand. "Not easy to get them used 80th = which actual SD model is similar to them?" just blew my mind.

Odds are good your "59NL" is a 59 Neck wound by somebody who's first initial is L, and your DDJ is a Duncan Distortion wound by somebody who's first initial is J. I have no idea what "80th" could mean.

Try asking your question again with complete sentences and we'll be able to help you a lot better.

Re: 59NL + DDJ 80th: Which model is similar or close now?

Just explaining the system of pre 2001 numbering.

Re: 59NL + DDJ 80th: Which model is similar or close now?

Sorry for my first very fast mail from yesterday in bad english!
80th did mean that i bought these pups in the 80th :o)

Okay - i have a Yamaha SG2100 from 1982 with a 59NL + DDJ that sounds perfect.
Last year i bought a SG1000 with original pups from Yamaha and now i want to change these pups with another 59NL + DDJ, but i could not find them in the actual Duncan range of pups. So i have two possibilities: Get the same OLD 59NL + DDJ via ebay or another channel used - or buy similar models from duncans actual range of pups new.
(i know that L + J means the guy in factory who did wound it;o)

Additional Questions:
1. Which models are similar to the 59N(L) + DD(J) if i would buy them new now?
2. If i buy them new, do you think they sound similar or much different?
3. If i can catch them used - do you think they sound different or similar = do you made the experience that those old 59N+DD pups all sound different?

till later + best

OK, so you have 1980 or so Duncan pickups and want some like those.

Your best bet, aside from patiently waiting for something on eBay, is to just get a 59 neck and Distortion bridge and be done with it.

Getting them used, there is no guarantee for they'll be from that year because pickups don't have serial numbers to date them.
