59's for Gibson Explorer

Re: 59's for Gibson Explorer

I don't know if "muddy" was the correct word..I think i said wrong... I spoke to him today and he told me that the 59's were lacking some power.. but they were ok without the covers. Maybe it's because the nickel covers don't allow the pick up to get near the strings?
He told me that the 59's without the nickel cover sound similar as the JB/a2p with the cover. (not identical, just similar)
I tought the nickel covers were just a cosmetical thing...but.. i'll wait how it's gonna be with the JB/A2p set, if it sucks, i'll change it. By the way.. it's better keep a hotter bridge pick up, because when I play the blues, i like the neck position or middle. cheers!

How much power do you need? Isn't that what the amp is for? 59 is a great pup...all around for everything. Who's you're luthier? Is he playing this guitar or are we!!!!!
