Yeah, you read right. Slash just posted on Facebook that while he won't be able to attend, the new Marshall AFD 5W Combo with be making it's debut at Namm...

Woah, colour me interested!!

Re: 5W Marshall AFD Combo?

I doubt it. Marshall's not stupid enough to ignore Slash's marketing powers. They're going to price it to the LCD of his guitar playing fans (well, as much as possible.) I see it being 4-600 depening on features.

$499.00 is my cut-of for a 5W sig amp like this !

Re: 5W Marshall AFD Combo?

My guess, $699-$899

Marshall went of the rails with pricing a few years ago.

This.

I was hoping the 1 watt series would be priced reasonably, but I just laughed as soon as I saw the prices. But I bet they will still sell pretty well. Anything Slash branded will have buyers.

Hey guys, I've unearthed some specs and even a photo (though a crap one) from Marshall, you can check it out here:

Re: 5W Marshall AFD Combo?

Seems like it has some pretty neat features and for $699 it's not horribly priced although a bit high. No effects loop it seems though.

Re: 5W Marshall AFD Combo?

That's about twice what I'd realistically consider paying for an amp like this. Marshall needs to take a hint from Fender and the Excelsior.

Re: 5W Marshall AFD Combo?

the low wattage marshall amps use EL84s. so there's some loss of authentic tone from the full size version.

Did you read the specs AJ? This amp has quite a bit more going on circuitrywise than the Excelsior..2 channels, more versatile tone stack, .reverb, 2 inputs, selectable wattage and it has a much better quality stock speaker. The Excelsior is a cool amp, but I dont think its a fair comparison. Class5 is a better comparison featurewise.

Re: 5W Marshall AFD Combo?

Looks interesting. I wouldn't mind something like that.

Now, is that $699 MSRP or Street?
