60's strat pickups

Were they potted in laquor or shellac? It's definately not wax. I've got one that's going terribly microphonic and want to give it a dip.

Re: 60's strat pickups

It's pretty rare for a Strat pickup to become microphonic. It's usually a metal covered pickup like a humbucker or a Tele bridge pickup whose baseplate has become loose because the wax that's holding it on has lost its hold, that goes microphonic. But wax pot it...you won't hurt anything. Probably some dark smokey colored wax will rise up out of the pickup when you dip it in the wax pot. Lew
