60th Anniversary Stratocaster

The early reviews aren't too good. But it's nicely priced. I'm guessing it's just a regular ol' MIM strat with a 3-ply parchment pickguard, JV's Tex Mex pickups, and blizzard paint.

The JV is probably still a much better deal...if you were to buy new.

They should have put Fat 50's or Custom Shop '54s in the 60th anniversary Strat. Save money on the assembly and other parts, but at least they could put really great pickups in it.

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

Hardly seems worth it. I mean, the paintjob and Tex Mex pups are cool, but what's the fun in buying a MIM Standard Strat if it's already been messed with?

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

Was there really a Strat built in 46' ???
I thought they started in the mid 50's myself, I'm no expert though.
Or are they just celebrating the 60's Aniversary of Fender in general and decided to make yet another "SPECIAL EDITION" strat?
It looks kinda cool. I think I'd go with a JV or maybe save a few $$$$ and go with a HWY 1 myself.

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

There is also a US version with a diamond anniversary logo with an actual diamond inlayed!

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

Leo Fender may have started in '46, but I seriously doubt anyone would want to play any of his offerings from that time...

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

I saw this guitar too and was excited at first to see a new model from Fender. Oh, and a 60th anniversary edtion to boot! But then I just realized it was a MIM with tex pups available in only 1 color... So my final reaction was "eh, so what"...

Its probably a great guitar, an even better deal ($ wise) when you compare it to the JV strat...

If you're shopping for an affordable strat, (in silver with TexMex pups), go for it!

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

That one is for those who want to share in the celebration but cannot afford the $$$ for the USA made 60th, which is supposed to be absolutely incredible from what I've heard.

And yes, it's for Fender's (the company) 60th Anniversary. The Strat had it's 50th in 2004.

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

I want to try one of these out... I have a 96 TEX Mex strat that is pretty much the same.... except mine has a poplar body and a full sized vintage style trem.... I can't decide if i like the paint job on the MIM 60th... And i'm odd i know but i like the sound of the MIM ceramic pickups.....

It was 1954. May I think, but I'm no expert either. It's Fender Co.'s 60th, in this case, on a Stratocaster, but not the Stratocaster's 60th, no.
Yes, the Stratocaster was born in 1954.

There's also a MIM Commemorative 60th Precision Bass.

In the MIA series, there's a Tele, Strat, Precision Bass and Jazz Bass.

Funny we both mention the MIA series and no one listens to us....

I think Fender's new offerings this year look pretty cool. I suggest everyone pick up a new frontline.

Its more of an anniverary for Fender the BRAND and they made a few different aniversary guitars a tele, a strat and a P-Bass i think

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

I'm wishing it came in left-handed so I could have a cool candidate to make into a Jimi Tribute strat. I'll try one to see how it is, I might get it and put the Brobucker in it if I decide I need to have a tremolo bridge on the guitar with it. Or just any humbucker. Or something...like a humbucker and two Stack Pluses...hmm...that sounds promising :fing2:

If I have any money by the end of the year that is

Re: 60th Anniversary Stratocaster

I should have titled the thread 60th Fender anniversary edition of the stratocaster.
