6V6 tubes

Re: 6V6 tubes

I still see no why...still makes no sense.

Nothing you write can ever explain “WHY”!

I am convinced that you just write on post that I initiate to add negative junk, which does not make any sense to even want me to ask you “WHY?” except that you like being yourself and in my book a troll.

Re: 6V6 tubes

Read the last word in my post… Last time I read it, it read “WHY"

If you are asking “WHY” that reason should be evident, to gain individual’s opinions for actual use, and not to flame the post...

Damn...simmer down Larry...

The more I read your posts the more I start to get the idea what you want...

You listed 10 6V6's and you want us to give our opinions on each of those tubes.

I want to add BTW that your post wasn't clear at all which can be proven by the fact that so far only one or two folks have posted what you wanted...

I'm not trying to add "negative junk", just trying to have a good time and share good info, I guess you can't do that.

Re: 6V6 tubes

RCA does not make tubes anymore (Actually, GE made the tubes after 1947) and RCA under that agreement has not made any tubes since 1975.

As others have pointed out, 4 of the manufacturers on your list no longer manufacture tubes, so this doesn't make any sense. It is also incorrect that GE made the 6V6GTs for RCA after 1947. I have about a dozen pairs of 1950s RCA blackplate 6V6GTs, all with RCA factory and date codes, with a completely different design and implementation to any GE. They sound completely different to a GE, reason being, they are RCAs, not GE. Different factories, different design. The smoked glass black plate 6V6GTs are RCAs. And I agree with erksin, any 6V6 list without them is missing the very best ever made.

Here's some of my RCA blackplate 6V6GTs, dated to 1958, with RCA factory codes, RCA octagon marking and no GE chalk dots to be seen. Branded for Magnavox, these came from the RCA factory.

Re: 6V6 tubes

I think I have RCA in my amp,but honestly I leave it up to my amp tech. He knows what I like/need and he has always done me right...

Re: 6V6 tubes

I'm using 1980's USA Tung Sol 6V6s at the moment & they sound top drawer (in a Blues Deluxe which I've swapped the speaker out for a Jensen C12N as well).

I did have JJ 6V6s in there but they don't really sound like 6V6s although they're a hell of a lot more musical than the Sovtek 5881s that came as stock.

I just waiting for a delivery of '60's Brimar 6V6s & '40's Ken-Rads so I'll let you know how they work out...
