I have an Ibanez 7 String, it's not the best quality but good (MIJ), the neck is a bit thin, but the fact that it's alot wider keeps it comfortable IMO.
I have had it a while and the only problems I've had with it were caused by me! :smack:

I'm still gassing after a carvin 7!
That's probably enough pics now..
There's a user on here (Kherman I think) that has some Carvin 7's too, he'll probably post if he sees this.
I still haven't managed to find a carvin to try, but everything I've heard has been great, except for the electronics.

Gaaah! No! That headstock is the worst design for a 7 string EVER created. Unless there's a locking nut the typical low B string tends to pop out of the nut. Theyt were just about giving Jackson 7's away at Guitar Center years ago because of that flaw.
I've owned a bunch of 7's, Schecter, ESP/LTD and Ibanez. The Schecter was probably the nicest out of all of them. I had a C7+ and it was quite nice.
Carvins are nice but they're a financial quagmire. There's a guy on the Boston CraigsList with one that satrted at $800 and has dropped down to $500 and no one wants it. He posts it every few days and has been doing so for the better part of probably nine months. No one wants the things.

No, but resale value is something that should be considered if you're not completely convinced that you're going to be owning and using this guitar for the rest of your life.
I've been playing guitar for over twenty years and have gone through alot of instruments. There are only two that I consider being "married" to in that sense; that resale value is an inconsequential issue because I will never, ever get rid of them. I'm talking about if everything in life goes to hell then one will be in each hand as I walk off into another life.
If you're not convinced you're up to that level of commitment then I would re-think how much of a factor re-sale value should be. Otherwise you're just spending money to say that you owned something for a length of time.

Yeah, f**k Ibanez! Over the past few months I have been gravitating toward Schecter just because of the fact that they are a well made, solid guitar. Ibnaez is just one of those brands that you just lose comfort with...go with the schecter....any of them! :32:

I had an H-207.
The stock pickups weren't all that great...Duncan Designed's low-end pickups.
However the body and neck were quite good. Binding was a little iffy in places, but nothing that I would consider out of line for the price point. String spacing was a little on the narrow side for me, but probably on par with the Ibanez' I owned (RG7420, RG7620 and a UV777BK).
Out of all the 7's I had the LTD was probably the best bang for the buck.

the thing to consider is this: 7 string guitars are still GUITARS. if a company can't seem to make a good six string, chances are the seven strings will suck, too. a good manufacturer will tend to produce higher quality instruments, period.
you can't always look at what pros are using, either. companies pay them big bucks and/or custom build guitars for them just so the company's name will be associated with that guitarist. don't think for one minute that just because you buy a korn signature ibanez you're getting the same quality of guitar that korn does.
here's my motto: to hell with names, if it feels good and sounds good and makes you want to play it, you should buy it.
i never buy a guitar unless i play it about 10 different times and still want it, but i think that's because i like to punish myself...and that's a topic for another day.

I like the hardtail Ibanez RG 7 the best, the thin neck makes the wider board easier to play.

I love it a lot more than the Ibanez $370 dollar one, I got mine for $300. Best deal ever...yeah, I'd agree the pickups aren't the greatest (JB/59 copies) but the guitar by itself is great...the binding on mine is perfect

The 307s were neck-thru (M-307, H307, F-307) and the 207s are bolt-on, but it plays really well anyway. Only thing I don't like about mine...the bridge sucks, it doesn't conform to the neck at all, I get great action in the middle (like .75mm) but the E and B are high (2mm) ...bleh. Oh well, still plays better than some other guitars...
I completely forgot about the new VP-407 that ESP has, it's the 400 but a 7-string version...buy that.
