'71 Deluxe Reverb issues.....need ideas

Last month my DR started blowing fuses every time I took it off standby.

Took it to a buddy's house and he's been trying to fix it.

At first he thought it was the rec tube as it was pretty old, so we replaced it.

When he tried it, it sparked at him, so he shut it down before it blew the tube.

He then suspected it was running hot, so he biased it and it's still trying to burn the rec tube.

He checked everything else out with a fine tooth comb and didn't see any wiring issues.

He was wondering if the rec tube socket is bad (as in it's not seating properly), but he still feels this is unlikely.

Any ideas from here?? HELP :help:

Wild guess from a hobbyist - maybe a loose piece of wire worked itself where it was not supposed to be?

Inspect everything for a spark burn. Sometimes, current arcs across two points that somehow got positioned too close to each other, like the terminals on a tube socket. Or something live is dangling so it can hit the chassis.

With a vintage amp like that, have a pro look at it. You don't want to burn up components, tubes, or tranny.
