Mesa Heartbreaker now has a loud Crackle?

Re: Mesa Heartbreaker now has a loud Crackle?

Even if they paid to have it fixed, as you say, it's not. You should still have the option to return it as it is within the 30 day period and not working properly.

Yeah I should, an hopefully it works out that way. But who knows at this point.

All you can do is try. Worse that they can do is say no. In which case you let them know that you will slam them in social media.

Yeah true. I have actually made a point of not stating what store it is or who the amp tech is In the Rockford, IL area. Specifically because I don't want to make them look bad, provided everything went well/the amp got fixed. And I have posted about this on other forums. I don't really have any desire to make any store/tech look bad, ya know?

Re: Mesa Heartbreaker now has a loud Crackle?

No, of course not. But if you get screwed, wouldn't you want to pass on the info to others?

And if they make it right, then you pass that on too.

Yeah, definitely be best to let any other potential customers know how it turns out. For good or bad.

In the past decade or so I've been a customer there they have always been good to me. Hopefully it continues, and I'm just assuming the worst (since that's how this has gone so far) for no good reason. Like the pessimistic bastard I am at times Haha

Nothing wrong with that.

Re: Mesa Heartbreaker now has a loud Crackle?

Give them 2 options...take the amp back, or they pay for the repair that Mesa does. And shipping. Heartbreakers are sort of rare, so it is unlikely to find another one anytime soon. They should have told you they had no idea what they were doing. They owe you for this.

Re: Mesa Heartbreaker now has a loud Crackle?

Just got back from the store, everything went fine. They just gave me back the amp I traded them for the heart breaker, which is totally fine with me. I'd thought they'd sold it already since it wasn't there the other day while I was there.
Although I traded them the amp with the foot switch, and the foot switch isn't with the amp now. They said they would track it down and get it back to me though. So yeah, kinda odd. Haha. Over all I guess this is a pretty alright outcome.
Now I get to try and sell an 80's Fender Super champ again. Haha.

As for the shop, they were actually really apologetic about the whole situation, and we're very Kool about the whole thing. Just like they generally have been in the past. So luckily my pessimistic way of assuming the worst in every situation was proven wrong once again. Haha

Well, hopefully you can find the amp you like without any more issues (don't know if I would buy it from them, though).

Hopefully, and thanks. Definitely not gonna buy it from them haha. I'm actually gonna try and hunt down a good JTM45 or JTM45/50 clone with a PPIMV and then stop looking for amps. I don't seem to have very good luck anytime I try anything other than old school ptp amps.

Re: Mesa Heartbreaker now has a loud Crackle?

So here's another weird update on this, weird because I thought this whole situation was resolved....

So, I called them a minute ago to find out whether they'd found the foot switch yet, or not......And apparently, some other customer has it... Apparently they sold it to him along with a Princeton Reverb II they were selling.
Now, what they're claiming is they didn't "sell it" to him, but that when he bought the amp, and "someone" let him "take" the footswitch home, because they "didn't know" it didn't go with that amp...And NOW they've discovered that the phone number they had on file for the guy was "disconnected", so they sent him an email, and told me "If we don't hear from him in a few days, I'll just go over to the address we have on file, and talk to him."....So yeah....I'm starting to get pissed. Cause this is sort of ridiculous.

The shop is Randee's Music in Rockford, IL

It wouldn't be much of an issue if it weren't for the fact that these Rivera Era Fender amps use a totally weird footswitch that is unlike anything used by any other amps. The Footswitches themselves sell for around $150-200 on ebay, when you can actually find them for sale, and even reproductions are around $50.....so yeah...

That's just ridiculous. No way to run a business.

Re: Mesa Heartbreaker now has a loud Crackle?

Sounds like they owe you either a footswitch or the money to buy one. They can't just get away with saying 'oops' and that is it. They sold property that wasn't theirs.

Well so far they're still saying they're gonna get it back, so we'll see. But I agree, they can't just do that and get away with it.
