808 Reissue.. Maxon or Ibanez?

Thinking of changing my sd-1 for one of those. I havent tried them and i cant try them cuz all the local stores dont stock them but i can order them.. exept if i do im stuck with wichever i chose. Ofcourse theres always eBay and i could get a original, but 400$+ is kinda to much for me atm . Who has tried these and wich do you prefer and why? is there a big diference or none at all and wich soudns more like the original?

Neither. Get an MJM Blues Devil. Sounds like a more authentic 808 than either of them. It's boutique, true bypass and can be found cheaper. Can't go wrong

I'd go for the Maxon, but I don't use OD's in a traditional way.

I got a Ts-9 and sent it to stratdeluxer to mod it. He was done in a day and was cheap. I think I got mine back the same week I sent it out.

Go to analogman.com and check out their 808 mods and soundsample of which. They've also got a non-TS overdrive pedal called King Of Tone. All these pedals sound amazing.

They also mod the Boss SD-1s to make them into TS-808s. It's only $45 to have your SD-1 modded.

Go cheaper, get a TS7 or TS5..there is no reason to spend so much money on a TubeScreamer.

a little off topic, but could somebody give a rough description of the difference of how an SD-1 and a TS9 or 808 would sound in front of say a JCM800 or something like that?
